A Temazcal in Brooklyn — handmade adobe, herbs and a ceremonial bucket ritual.

Clay & Hay Sauna at World Spa, Brooklyn — handmade adobe Temazcal-style sauna

The Room

To be seen, felt, smelt and heard — the Clay & Hay Sauna is the closest thing to a Temazcal, the South American clay-and-hay sweat lodge, in New York. Thick, handmade adobe walls hold the genuine warmth of the earth, paired with a heater custom-made for World Spa in Germany.

Every three hours, attendants perform a ceremonial bucket rotation, pouring herb-infused water over the hot volcanic rocks.
